As a non-profit organization, Sequoia's commitment to serve the underserved and underprivileged means looking to alternative funding sources beyond state and federal grants. In 2005, thirty-nine percent of Sequoia's patients had no insurance. While Sequoia does receive funding to help cover those costs, the need is always greater than the resources available. As we continue to extend our reach to more of the forgotten corners of our community, our resolve to assist the underserved grows.

Each patient we treat at Sequoia is a person who can then function on a higher level within our community. Healthier, they can care for their children, they can return to work, they can contribute in a positive way to Fresno at large. Each patient we treat at Sequoia is a patient who didn't have to experience a costly emergency room visit. Plus, using our preventative services, our patients remain healthier, avoiding other expensive hospital visits.
